Litigation Friend taking on British Airways…

BA have purged its workforce of 1,000s of legacy cabin crew by misleading them and pressurising them into making bad decisions without proper legal advice and information. The underhand tactics used include threatening huge pay cuts, “fire and rehire” and threatening to remove their staff travel benefit. The only legal advice that many of these crew were provided with in exchange for waiving their rights to £100,000s worth of compensation was a video on Youtube.

Even after a UK parliament select committee branded BA a “national disgrace” and called BA’s actions a “calculated attempt to take advantage” of the pandemic, BA ploughed ahead with the cuts. BA was banking on the fact that legacy crew would not have the knowledge, resources or resolve to fight these claims.

Litigation Friend, Kepler Wolf and Michael Duggan QC are representing 35 cabin crew for discrimination on the grounds of age, sex and others. We are also challenging BA’s long standing claim that staff travel is a “discretionary” benefit.
